GENI Solicitation 1     Instructions
To use the GENI GPO Solicitation submission site, you must first create an account. Go to the URL indicated on the www.geni.net Solicitation Information page and enter the email address you would like to use for proposal communications. Select "I'm a new user and want to create an account using this email address." and click the "Sign in" button. You will get an email from geni-ops@geni.net with your password. It may take a few minutes for you to receive the email.
The first time you log in after you have received your password, you will be asked to enter your proposer profile information. Please fill out all the fields, then hit the "Save changes" button.
This action will bring you to the home page for your account, which is the page you go to automatically after all subsequent logins. You can click on the "My Profile" link on your home page to change any of your profile information or your password.
Whenever you want to return to the home page, click on the "GENI SOLICITATION 1" link in the upper left hand corner of the page.
To start a new proposal, click on the "Start new proposal" link. This will bring you to the proposal information page, where you enter general proposal information and upload the single .pdf file that contains all your proposal text, as described section 4 or 5 of the solicitation. You can create the proposal information page without uploading any draft text file, and continue to work on the proposal over time. Or you can upload a draft right away, and upload a final .pdf file later. Once you have uploaded a .pdf file for a proposal, you will see a check box labeled "This is the final submission." every time you view that proposal's information page. When you are ready to submit your final proposal, check this box and click on the "Update proposal" button at the bottom of the proposal information page. You cannot change your proposal or its proposal information after you submit it. You must use the check box to submit the proposal before the final deadline that is displayed on the proposal submission site.
Note that there is a "Contact Author" field that is separate from the "Authors" field on the proposal information page. This is the address that we will use to communicate with you about your proposal. You may enter more than one Contact Author address, and all will receive the same emails. (Use the "Edit contact authors" button, which does not appear the first time you see proposal information page, to add more Contact Authors to an existing proposal information page. Please make sure to add at least one authorized contracts official as a Contact Author. Include "-contract" along with the person's name in the "Name field (e.g. John Smith-contract) and add their email address in the "Email" field. Note that this individual will get emails whenever you change the draft proposal information on the site, so you may want to wait to add the contracts official's name until right before you submit the final proposal.
Please make sure to list the principal investigator as the first author in the "Authors" section. Include any proposed subcontractors or teammates as authors. This helps us identify any potential conflicts of interest in processing your proposal.
Please make sure to check all of the check boxes in each category that applies to your proposal. The check boxes are near the bottom of the proposal information page. This helps us process your proposal more quickly.
Note that your proposal status will be "In progress" for any proposal that hasn't been finally submitted. Make sure your proposal status is "Submitted" before the proposal deadline. You can check the status of all your proposals from your home page.
You will receive email confirmation when your proposal is submitted. It may take a few minutes for you to receive the email.
