Federated Testbeds

GENI users can access resources from federated testbeds using their GENI account. In many cases, they can add these resources to their GENI slice to run an experiment that spans multiple testbeds around the world.

Researchers use CloudLab to build their own clouds, experimenting with new architectures that will form the basis for the next generation of computing platforms. GENI users can access CloudLab from the GENI Portal and log in using their GENI account.
Chameleon is a large-scale platform for exploring concepts in deeply programmable cloud services, design, and core technologies.  It allows users to explore problems ranging from the creation of Software as a Service to kernel support for virtualization. GENI users can access Chameleon from the GENI Portal and log in using their GENI account.
Emulab is a network emulation testbed, giving researchers a wide range of environments in which to develop, debug, and evaluate their systems. Emulab implements the GENI Aggregate Manager API; GENI users can include Emulab resources in their slices.
ORBIT is a wireless network emulator designed for reproducible experiments, while also supporting realistic evaluation of protocols and applications. GENI users can access ORBIT from the GENI Portal and log in using their GENI account.
WITest is for research, education, and outreach focused on implementation of, and experimentation with, wireless networking protocols, applications and services. GENI users can access WITest from the GENI Portal and log in using their GENI account.
The iMinds Virtual Wall consists of over 350 servers that can be used as bare metal hardware or virtualized using XEN.   iMinds Virtual Wall implements the GENI Aggregate Manager API; GENI users can include Virtual Wall resources in their slices.
SAVI is a Canadian research platform that supports experimental research in application-oriented networking cloud computing, integrated wireless/optical access networks, and Future Internet architectures. GENI users can access and use SAVI from the GENI Portal using their GENI account.
PlanetLab is a global research network for learning about network-wide phenomena, creating new network protocols, evaluating new and existing network services and deploying novel network services at a global scale, PlanetLab implements the GENI Aggregate Manager API; GENI users can include PlanetLab resources in their slices.
